All your biggest questions… answered!
#1 Why “Christian” life coaching?
Serving from a Christian standpoint is about aligning God’s calling for me as a coach with the aspirations of the people I get to work with. As a Christian life coach I utilize faith-based principles and biblical truths to go deeper with my clients than traditional coaching strategies. Spirituality is so important to who we are and our ability to move forward in the face of adversity. If we ignore that, we can’t go as far as God wants to take us.
#2 What’s the difference between a life coach and a therapist?
A therapist will look closely at a patient’s past to understand today’s troubles so they may clinically treat the determined diagnoses. A coach will focus less on the past and more on helping the client create a future that is different from the future that would have arrived by default.
#3 Can I work with a therapist or counselor at the same time as a life coach?
Absolutely! Many times a client will tell me how much their therapist and I echo each other, yet provide different approaches and perspectives that are uniquely helpful.
#4 How much does life coaching cost?
Anywhere from $60 per session for new or un-credentialed coaches all the way up to a $150,000 program fee paid in full and up front for high-profile coaches. I’m not kidding on that last one! I recently learned about a coach with a military background who helps clients face their edge on “adventure coaching sessions” that include extreme mountain climbing, swimming across a freezing lake, or flying in an open helicopter!
#5 What kind of results can I expect from life coaching?
So many people these days have coaches because coaching works. If you want to work toward a certain life goal, a life coach will work specifically on helping you get closer and closer to that goal.
Just like a good athletic coach will use specialized tools, communication skills, and practice drills to help you level up in sport, a life coach will use their own set of specialized tools, communication skills, and practice assignments to help you level up your life.
But just as with anything, you will get out what you put in. A coach cannot (and should not) guarantee a specific result. However, they can bring out the very best in a client, guaranteeing progress and a greater likelihood for the client to achieve what they set out to accomplish.
