When we set our sights on new goals or aspirations, it can seem overwhelming. It’s a constant battle between ambition and doubt.
We want to be and live better, but doubt can stop us in our tracks before we even start, with thoughts like…
“I can’t see how that’s possible.”
“I don’t know how to make this work.”
“I haven’t done this before so I don’t know where to start.”
But none of that matters. It really doesn’t!
You don’t need to see how it’s possible, you just need to know that all things are possible with God – and your situation is no exception.
You don’t need to know how to make it all work, you just need to take one step at a time.
And you don’t need prerequisites to create your dream life, you just need to think S.M.A.R.T.
S.M.A.R.T thinking = S.M.A.R.T. goals
S.M.A.R.T goals simplify the complexities of big goals. They are essentially benchmarks that create positive momentum so your bigger goals don’t seem so far off or impossible.
S.M.A.R.T. goals have 5 elements:
Specific: This will help you simplify your goal and reduce overwhelm around it.
Measurable: This will help you determine whether or not you achieved it.
Achievable: This will ensure your S.M.A.R.T goal can be met and produce positive momentum.
Relevant: This will ensure your S.M.A.R.T goal is aligned with your bigger goal.
Time Bound: This will ensure you take action and can expect to achieve your S.M.A.R.T goal by a certain date.
❌ I want more intentional time with my family.
✔️ I will schedule a family dinner, setting expectations of no electronic distractions at the table, by the first of the month.
Every time you complete a S.M.A.R.T. goal, create a Next Step S.M.A.R.T goal! And keep going until you reach your big goal.
