Last month, my sweet friend Lindsey Schwartz and I collaborated on a send-off message for a room full of 2020 high school lady graduates. It was a night I will never forget!
One of the things we wanted to equip these students with as they head out into the world for the next chapter of their lives were affirmations like no other… affirmations built on truth… truth about what their maker says about them.
This list has become a treasure of mine – I hope you find it valuable too!
I am chosen, and dearly loved.
“Therefore (your name), as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12 NIV
I am accepted.
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you (your name), in order to bring praise to God.” Romans 15:7 NIV
I am chosen, holy, and blameless before God.
“For he chose us in him (your name) before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” Ephesians 1:4 NIV
I am capable.
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NIV
I am not alone.
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you (your name); he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
I have peace in Christ.
“Do not be anxious about anything (your name), but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
There is a plan and a purpose for my life.
“For I know the plans I have for you (your name),” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
I am heard.
“Beloved Daniel (your name), do not be afraid, since the first day you set your mind and humbled yourself, your words were heard.” Daniel 10:12
I can handle anything.
“Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
My adversities are making me better.
“Dear brothers and sisters (your name), when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4 NLT
God is making a way for me.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19 NIV
I am bold.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT
I am called for greatness.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 NLT
I can break down barriers.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 ESV
I am more than what the world sees.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 NIV
